THE MONTESSORI MATERIALS

Maria Montessori developed so many materials for children, based on her scientific observations. Here we will try to tell you more about the materials we use in our classroom.

Sand Paper Letters

Sand Paper Letters

A classic Montessori Matterial that helps the student to learn the sound and shape of the letters of the alphabet and gain a muscular memory of the shape of the letters as a prelude to writing.

Learn From Each other

Learn From Each other

One of the powers of the Montessori Method is learning from each other.

Here you can see a great example of two students that work by themselves, but can still help each other.

Cut-out Numerals and Counters

Cut-out Numerals and Counters

Students are able to feel the shape of the numerals and count one by one the correct amount with the counters.

Cylinder Block

Cylinder Block

There are 3 different Cylinder Blocks that let the children practice visual discrimination of dimensions. Small to large, thin to thick and a combination of those two.

The Pink Tower

The Pink Tower

One of the classic materials in a Montessori classroom is the Pink Tower. It helps the students to learn about different dimensions, ordering, refining motor coordination and concentration.

The Stamp Game

The Stamp Game

Visualizing additions, subtractions can be done with the Stamp Game. Children use place value to determine what stamps they have to choose. By adding or taking away stamps they can perform an addition or subtraction.
